Letters To Baby

LTB is an ongoing project where you are invited to write a letter to your baby. Everyone is someone's baby. What do you wish they told you? What will you tell them?

Dear baby,

I keep dreaming about you, though you don’t yet exist.
You’re already part of me.
I can’t wait until you’re here.
I want to tell you stories of how you existed in my heart before you were even born.
And how much you were loved, even before your conception.

I love you baby.

Kate M.

You will always have more than enough

Dear Baby,

I cannot picture you, I cannot say with absolute certainty that you will exist even. When I think of you, what comes to mind directly afterwards are promises. Promises to always keep you safe and to love you no matter what and to always be on your side. Promises that were made to me by my parents and that they’ve always kept.

Big stress in my life…

Dear Baby,

If there’s one thing in my life that I will make absolute sure happens, it’s you. As many times as I get frustrated with my kids at camp or my little brother and swear “I will never have kids,” I know in my heart that simply is impossible. I’ve been pretty much ready to have kids since I was, like, 17. Unfortunately, modern day society and the environment I was raised in dictates that I have to wait. And wait. And wait.

I’m Scared

Dear Baby, For the longest time, I did not want to be a mother. The idea is terrifying. Being the person who cooks meals, who cleans up, who worries constantly - living for someone else and not really being the main character of your own story because you’re too busy serving others. To me, having you would mean giving up freedom, staying in one place, and turning into my mother.

In a way, you won’t just be a dream.

Dear Baby;

You are a beautiful and perfect theoretical construct to me, because in reality I will not be having children. Please don’t interpret this as a dislike for children. But for me it is better that you exist only in my mind, as a quick thought on occasion of what could be. Yet, not what could actually be.

LTB Call For Submissions

This isn’t a desperate plea, a hopeless note or a want for popularity. Letters to Baby is a project that works on it’s own, only, we need more people to know, to write, to listen and to contribute in any way they can to be able to keep it running.

I have heaps of letters to share now but at some point they will run dry, and I know that everyone out there has a real story to share. It is an amazing experience to write these letters- and I don’t say that because I am the founder. I say that because of the mass amounts of emails, letters, notes and art work that has come through. People write to me saying they wrote the letters but cannot part with them.

I urge my followers and their friends to spread the word. Write your own letter, share it with a friend, tell someone you know to whom this project would affect.

I don’t say that because I want popularity or that I think this project is better than anything else. I say that because I have confidence in the product you can submit. You will astound yourself when you sit down and write a letter. I swear it.

All I ask is you sit down and write a letter to your baby.

Remember, everyone’s story is different. I have gotten so many, from boys, from girls, from young and old, from people who never want to have babies to people who have watched their children grow up. I have gotten paintings and poems, stories and song choices. You never know what you have to say until you sit down and write.

If you want a quick summary of what the project is all about, you can just click on the link to the page and check out the ABOUT section. It should answer any and all questions.

Email me personally with questions or the letters themselves to: LETTERSTOBABY@HOTMAIL.COM
